The Toolbox

When you launch AM, you see the toolbox window on the right side of the animation window. The toolbox offers you a variety of tools to create and edit pictures:

Selection
Selects a rectangular part of a picture so you can manipulate it.

Lasso selection
Selects a free-form part of the picture so you can manipulate it.

Round Selection
Selects a round part of a picture so you can manipulate it.

Magic wand
Automatically selects a free-form part of the picture so you can manipulate it.

Pencil
Draws a free-form line using the foreground color.

Eraser
Erases part or your entire picture with the background color.

Eyedropper
Selects a color of your picture to use it as the foreground color.

Zoom glass
Zooms the animation frame. Bucket Paints an enclosed area with the foreground color.

Line
Draws a straight line using the foreground color.

Rectangle
Draws a hollow rectangle using the foreground color for the outline.

Filled rectangle
Draws a solid colored rectangle using the foreground color.

Rounded rectangle
Draws a hollow rectangle with rounded corners using the foreground color for the outline.

Filled rounded rectangle
Draws a solid colored rectangle with rounded corners using the foreground color.

Ellipse
Draws a hollow ellipse using the foreground color for the outline.

Filled Ellipse
Draws a solid colored ellipse using the foreground color for the outline.

Text
Opens the text dialog box.

Pen size
Selects the size of the pencil.

Paste mode
Selects the way you paste your selection. The copy paste mode works like cutting out a piece of paper and paste it on another piece of paper. The or paste mode is like cutting out a piece of film and paste it on a piece of paper, i. e. the color white is transparent. Try to experiment with the other modes.

Pattern
Selects a pattern that is used when drawing solid rectangles or ellipses. That is very useful if you own a black and white monitor.

Foreground color
Selects the foreground color using the AM or Apple color picker.

Background color
Selects the background color using the AM or Apple color picker.

Color exchange
Switches the foreground and background colors.

Set b/w
Sets the foreground color to black and the background color to white.

Recently used colors
Shows the last four colors you have used in your animation.
